Dr Sreejith Kalpuzha Ashtamoorthy
Principal Scientist and Head of The Department,
Dr.K.A. Sreejith got his PhD from FRI, Dehradun for his work entitled “Ecological and Ecophysiological Studies on the successional status of tree seedlings in Tropical wet-evergreen and semi-evergreen forests of Kerala”. He is actively involved in field oriented studies in tropical forests of Western Ghats. By monitoring large number of Permanent Sample Plots across the state he is trying to elucidate the vegetation dynamics of major forest ecosystem of Southern Western Ghats. As a part of long-term monitoring of forest ecosystem in the context of climate change, He has just established more than 40 permanent plots including a large scale (10 ha.) plot in evergreen forest of Kerala which follows CTFS methodology. We have International and National Collaborations including University of Oxford, Leeds, Ghent, ISRO, IISc, ICFRE Email: [email protected]

PhD Scholars
Abdulla Naseef S A (December 2016- )
Naseef did his masters in Botany from Gandhigram Rural Institute-Deemed University, Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. He has joined our lab in December 2016 as a CSIR Junior Research Fellow. He had worked as a research scholar for thirteen months at the Biology department, IISER-Bhopal. He is interested in studying the physiological ecology of plants. It is highly important to understand how do the plants acclimatise in a short term and adapt in long term to the changing climate. Naseef is currently working on different species of mangroves to understand how they are responding to the changing climate and raising sea level, for his doctoral thesis. He is an active collaborator in TreeWatch.Net; a global network for Tree-Carbon-Water monitoring. Email: [email protected]
